Predator (1987)

This is an okay movie. Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) arrives in Guatemala with his elite team for an operation to rescue a presidential cabinet minister and his aide who were abducted by guerrilla forces. Dutch's old military buddy George Dillon (Carl Weathers) steps in as a liaison and joins the team. They track the guerillas to a heavily defended rebel encampment which they destroy, except for a woman named Anna whom they take prisoner. They notice that something odd is happening in the forest, dead bodies found with their skin missing and a shadowy figure. The team is almost completely annihilated before Dutch discovers that the creature is an alien.

Two sequels, Predator 2 (1990) and Predators (2010), as well as two crossover films with the Alien franchise, Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), have been produced. Filming was done in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Schwarzenegger married Maria Shriver while this film was being produced. He had to swim in very cold water and spent three weeks covered in mud for the climactic battle with the alien. Kevin Peter Hall was not able to see while wearing the Predator mask. The glowing blood was achieved by mixing liquid from glow sticks with a lubricant for texture.
