Memorial Day (2011)

This is a solid movie. During a game of hide and seek 13-year-old Kyle Vogel finds a World War II footlocker belonging to his grandfather stored away in a shed. His grandpa (James Cromwell) is initially reluctant to talk about the war, but Kyle keeps pressing him on it until he agrees to share the stories behind three items. Several years later, Kyle (Jonathan Bennett) joins the National Guard and reflects on his conversations with his grandfather while recuperating from injuries suffered fighting in Iraq.
